According to a report by Chinese media outlet The Paper (Pengpai News) on April 9, sources from the supply chain have confirmed that Apple's first foldable iPhone has entered trial production smoothly, with no significant problems encountered. The development is not expected to cause any delay to the launch schedule.
An industry insider stated, "The entire foldable solution has been thoroughly evaluated and refined over several years. Apple is extremely conservative when it comes to product design and is using proven, mature technologies. There are no major issues."
This update comes after a Japanese media report on April 7 claimed that Apple's first foldable iPhone had encountered technical setbacks during the engineering testing phase, which could potentially delay mass production and shipment timelines.
However, Mark Gurman, a well-known Bloomberg journalist who closely follows Apple, subsequently stated that the foldable iPhone is still on track to launch later this year during Apple's regular iPhone release cycle. It is expected to debut alongside the new iPhone 18 Pro series at the September autumn event and go on sale at the same time-typically about one week after the announcement. In other words, the foldable iPhone will proceed according to the original plan with no signs of delay.
