The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has been making some key rulings lately in its Section 337 investigation (No. 337-TA-1455) on certain electronic eyewear products, their components, and related charging devices-basically smart glasses and similar tech gear.

This whole thing kicked off back in July 2025 when the ITC started the probe after a complaint from IngenioSpec, LLC, a company based in San Jose, California (right here in the Bay Area). They claimed that a bunch of mostly Chinese and Singapore-based companies were importing and selling products in the U.S. that infringed on two of their patents (Nos. 10,310,296 and 12,078,870). The goal was to get exclusion orders to block those imports.
The original list of respondents was pretty long: companies like SZ DJI Technology (from Shenzhen), Even Realities (Shenzhen and Germany), Halliday Global and Holdings (Singapore), Cosonic Intelligent Technologies (Dongguan), Shenzhen Yingmu Technology, Sichuan INMO Technology's Shenzhen branch, MyW Technology, Shenzhen Langzhiyin Electronic, Hangzhou Guangli Technology, Brilliant Labs (Singapore), and Lexiang Technology (Shanghai).
Fast-forward to now (early 2026), and a good chunk of those companies have already been dropped from the case through settlements or the complainant pulling back.
Here's the recent rundown:
- On January 16, 2026, the ITC said it wouldn't review an initial determination (Order No. 22) from the administrative law judge dated December 17, 2025. Because IngenioSpec withdrew its claims, the investigation against Shenzhen Langzhiyin Electronic Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen, China) is now terminated.
- Back on December 19, 2025, they did the same for Orders No. 19–21 (from December 1), ending things for several groups due to settlements:
1.Halliday Global and Halliday Holdings Pte. Ltd. (Singapore), plus Cosonic Intelligent Technologies Co., Ltd. (Dongguan, China)
2.Shenzhen Yingmu Technology Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen) and Sichuan INMO Technology Co., Ltd.'s Shenzhen branch
3.Even Realities Ltd. (Shenzhen, China) and Even Realities GmbH (Germany)
- Even earlier, on September 15, 2025, the ITC declined to review Orders No. 9 (August 14) and No. 11–12 (August 25), terminating Hangzhou Guangli Technology Co., Ltd. (Hangzhou, China) and Brilliant Labs Limited (Singapore) after settlements. At that point, they also set the target date for wrapping up the whole investigation: December 21, 2026.
So yeah, through a bunch of out-of-court deals and withdrawals, a ton of the original defendants are out of the picture. The case is still going for whoever's left (like DJI and a few others, from what I can tell), but it's moving along pretty quickly for an ITC patent fight. These Section 337 cases are popular for patent holders trying to block imports fast, and it looks like IngenioSpec has already cleared a lot of the field by settling with many parties.
If you're following smart glasses or AR eyewear trends, this is one of those behind-the-scenes battles that could affect what products make it to the U.S. market down the line. The final target date is still late next December, so more updates to come.
