Samsung Display announced on April 9 that its QD-OLED monitor panels have surpassed 5 million cumulative shipments as of March 2026, achieved in just over four years since mass production began in late 2021. The company reported a compound annual growth rate exceeding 320%, establishing QD-OLED as a major force driving technological upgrades in the premium monitor market.
Data shows Samsung Display hit the 1 million cumulative shipment milestone in May 2024. It then delivered an additional 4 million units in less than two years, reaching the 5 million mark.
To further solidify its technological leadership, Samsung Display has introduced the V-Stripe pixel structure in its latest products, significantly improving text clarity and overall visibility. The panels also feature the new QuantumBlack film, which reduces screen reflectance by 20% for better anti-glare performance. The company is strengthening collaborations with more than 20 global brands, focusing on gamers and creative professionals to expand its footprint in the high-end monitor segment.

Samsung Display Vice President Sun Dong-il said: "Leveraging the superior picture quality of QD-OLED and our stable production capacity, we will continue to accelerate technological advancement and generational upgrades in the monitor market."
Meanwhile, competition in the OLED monitor space is intensifying. TCL Huaxing (TCL CSOT) plans to launch self-developed inkjet-printed OLED panels for monitors, while LG Display (LGD) is rapidly scaling its OLED monitor business. LGD's shipments grew from approximately 100,000 units in 2023 to 200,000 in 2024 and are projected to reach 400,000 in 2025.
According to market research firm UBI Research, global OLED monitor shipments are expected to reach 3.2 million units in 2025, representing a 64% increase from 1.95 million units in 2024. Growth is forecasted to remain robust at over 50% in 2026, making OLED monitors the fastest-growing segment in the mid-to-large-sized OLED market.
Analysts point to higher production efficiency and profitability as the key drivers behind panel makers' aggressive push into display-oriented OLED. Using 8.5-generation substrates as an example, monitor panels achieve a cutting efficiency of over 90%, significantly higher than the 60–70% typical for TV panels, leading to better production line utilization and improved economic returns.
This milestone highlights the accelerating shift toward self-emissive OLED technology in the premium monitor sector, fueled by strong demand for superior contrast, color accuracy, and fast response times in both gaming and professional applications.
