LG Electronics just pulled the wraps off its brand-new UltraGear evo high-resolution gaming monitor series, and it's clear they're gunning for the top spot in premium gaming displays. The first wave includes three flagship models - the 39GX950B, 27GM950B, and the massive 52G930B - all scheduled to make their official debut at CES 2026.

The 39-inch 39GX950B is an ultrawide OLED stunner with a gentle 1500R curve and LG's cutting-edge Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel. It delivers true 5120×2160 (5K2K) resolution at 165Hz, or you can switch to 2560×1080 dual-mode for an eye-popping 330Hz - perfect for esports players who want every last frame. With a claimed 0.03ms response time and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, this panel should offer the deep blacks, infinite contrast, and lightning-fast pixel response that OLED fans love.

Next up is the 27-inch 27GM950B, which LG is proudly calling the world's first 5K MiniLED gaming monitor. It features an impressive 2304 local dimming zones and a special design that shrinks the gap between the panel and backlight to almost nothing, greatly reducing the annoying halo/blooming effect that's been a weak point for MiniLED displays in the past. You get 5120×2880 resolution running at 165Hz (or 2560×1440 at 330Hz in dual mode), 1ms GtG response, a peak brightness of 1250 nits, and VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification. This one is aimed at gamers who want incredible sharpness and brightness in a more desk-friendly size.

Then there's the absolute monster of the lineup: the 52-inch 52G930B. Currently the largest 5K2K gaming monitor available, it rocks a deep 1000R curve, a smooth 240Hz refresh rate, and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification. If you're into immersive sim racing, flight sims, or just want your entire gaming world to wrap around you, this giant curved screen looks like it could be a dream come true.

Both the 39GX950B and 27GM950B also pack on-device AI processing, so you don't need a monster GPU to take advantage of features like AI super resolution (upscaling lower-res content to near-native 5K quality), AI scene optimization for smarter picture adjustments, and even AI-enhanced audio. It's a nice bonus that makes these monitors feel more future-proof right out of the box.

LG is clearly doubling down on the high-resolution gaming trend, combining the contrast perfection of OLED, the brightness and local dimming control of MiniLED, and the sheer immersion of giant curved panels. Pricing and exact availability are still under wraps, but we'll learn a lot more when these screens hit the show floor at CES 2026 next month.

For anyone hunting for a next-level gaming monitor that can actually handle 5K properly, LG's new UltraGear evo lineup is definitely one to watch. 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the display world!
