June 5, 2026 - According to a recent report released by Counterpoint Research, India's tablet market recorded a 5% year-over-year growth in the first quarter of 2026, despite facing challenges such as rising memory prices and an uncertain macroeconomic environment.

Counterpoint Research attributed the growth to positive developments on both the demand and supply sides of the market.
On the demand side, consumers continue to show increasing interest in tablets featuring larger displays, 5G connectivity, and higher-performance specifications. In addition, the strong momentum carried over from previous quarters further supported market expansion during the quarter.
The research firm noted that tablets have traditionally occupied the screen-size segment between smartphones and laptops. However, as smartphones continue to adopt larger displays and laptops become more portable, the distinction between these device categories is becoming increasingly blurred.
The strong performance of Lenovo's Idea Tab series and Samsung's Ultra series has further reinforced the trend toward larger-screen tablets. The first quarter of 2026 also marked a major product launch season for Apple and Xiaomi, with both companies introducing at least one tablet model featuring a display larger than 12 inches.
These launches have accelerated the industry's shift toward larger-screen devices, reflecting evolving consumer preferences for enhanced productivity, entertainment, and multi-tasking experiences.
Industry analysts believe that the growing popularity of large-display tablets will continue to drive demand for advanced display technologies, high-resolution panels, and premium user experiences in the coming quarters.
