Wow, India's PC market really went off in 2025. According to IDC, they sold a record 15.9 million desktops, laptops and workstations - first time ever breaking the 15 million mark. That's up 10.2% from the year before.

Just in the last three months of the year, they shipped 4.1 million units, which is an 18.5% jump. Not bad at all.

The hottest thing was AI laptops. Their shipments basically doubled and more - up a massive 129%. Most of them were the cheaper basic AI models (they took 86.6% of all AI PCs sold). On the fancy side, generative AI notebooks got popular with normal people, and Apple's MacBook pretty much owned that part with over 70% share.

Businesses were the real engine behind the growth - they bought 8.6 million PCs. Regular consumers bought 7.3 million, up 3.6% for the year, thanks to good festive season sales. But supply problems caused a small dip in consumer sales in Q4.

Online shopping kept growing fast too, up 12% for the whole year.

news-1-1

Top brands:

  • HP stayed comfortably in first place with 29.1% of the market.
  • Lenovo took second with 18.7%.
  • Dell came third with 15.1% and actually grew 18.3% - nice work.
  • Acer got 15.0%.
  • Asus was fifth at 7.6%.

Now for next year… it might slow down a bit. Prices of important parts like memory, graphics chips and processors are going up, so laptops and PCs are getting more expensive - already up more than 10%, and they could rise another 15-20% soon. Small businesses and government buyers are going to feel it the most. Plus, there might not be enough basic chips, so some people could end up buying tablets or even phones instead of cheap PCs.
