On May 15, Hubei TV reported that China's largest single polarizer production base has officially started mass production in Huanggang, Hubei Province.
This is big news for the local display industry. The new facility means companies in Wuhan's Optics Valley can now get high-quality polarizer films right on their doorstep, filling a major missing piece in Hubei's new display supply chain.
Walking into the dust-free workshop of Huanggang Liyou Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. (Liyou Optoelectronics), you can see the massive 2300mm-wide production line running at full speed. Sheets of high-end polarizer film - thinner than a piece of A4 paper - come off the line one after another and are shipped directly to panel makers in Wuhan.
The project was invested by Sanlipu, a leading Chinese polarizer manufacturer, through its subsidiary Liyou Optoelectronics. With a total investment of 2.16 billion RMB and covering about 180 mu of land, the facility includes both 1490mm and 2300mm wide full-process production lines.
Once fully ramped up, it aims to produce 30 million square meters of polarizer film per year, generating around 1.5 billion RMB in annual output value.
What's impressive is the speed: the company was only established in December 2024, construction started soon after, trial production began in February 2026, and it achieved full mass production in May - just over a year from breaking ground. Orders have already been lined up through the end of the year.
In the future, Liyou Optoelectronics also plans to develop polarizers for car displays, foldable screens, and other advanced applications to further strengthen the local industry chain.
