Samsung Display unveiled a cool concept at CES 2026 called the AI OLED Pendant - basically a tiny wearable screen you can hang around your neck like a necklace. It's not a full gadget you hold or put on a desk; it's meant to be something super personal you wear close to your body, bringing AI right into your everyday life in a new way.

They showed it off first at a media event in Las Vegas at the Encore at Wynn hotel. The key message? As AI devices get smaller, the screen ends up closer to you - and that's where this pendant fits in.

After smartphones, this could be the most "personal" screen yet. It's designed like a necklace, so you don't have to pull out your phone to check quick AI notifications or important info. It pops up text and icons right in front of you - way more useful in quiet situations than voice-only AI stuff. Samsung Display says it's not trying to replace a smartwatch; think of it more as a little helper screen that works alongside your phone. You might still need to lift it or adjust it to see clearly, but it skips the hassle of digging your phone out of your pocket or bag.

Since it's for fast glances at short updates (not binge-watching videos), they call it an "instant-view" display. Samsung thinks this could open the door to all sorts of new features in future personal AI gadgets.

Why OLED makes sense here The big reason this works is OLED tech - no backlight needed, so it's super thin, light, low-power, and flexible enough to bend into a pendant shape that regular screens couldn't handle. Samsung Display is pushing the idea that OLED isn't just for phones and TVs anymore; it's perfect for wearables and tiny AI devices. This pendant is their clearest example of that.

The pendant-style AI race is already on Samsung isn't the only one thinking necklace-shaped AI. Other companies have been working on pendants you clip to your shirt or neck. The most talked-about one is Limitless (formerly Rewind), which records conversations in real time and uses AI to summarize them - it's more about always-on listening than showing a screen. Meta bought Limitless back in late 2025, folding it into their bigger push for AI wearables (they're heavy on smart glasses, but this adds another angle).

Most of those existing pendants rely purely on voice and audio, without any visual display. That's where Samsung's version stands out - adding a real screen for quick visual info makes a noticeable difference. As AI gets more invisible in the background, people still want fast visual feedback.

Samsung Display isn't saying this pendant is ready to hit stores yet - it's a concept to show what's possible. But with AI devices heading toward super-personal and tiny designs, they see necklace-style screens as a legit future option. Pretty interesting direction for wearables!
