BEIJING, April 24, 2026 - BOE (BOE Technology) grabbed attention at the Beijing International Auto Exhibition with its Light Curtain smart dimming glass. It's now showing up in some big new cars like the NIO ES9, XPeng GX, and Voyah Taishan Black Warrior, and it's already working smoothly in models like the Zeekr 009 Glory and Hongqi H9.

This feels like a real milestone. The tech has finally hit mature, high-volume production, and it's starting to look like one of the next big things for smart car interiors - especially when people want more privacy and comfort on the road.
The NIO ES9 is the first car in the world to get BOE's zoned dimming system. It has 64 zones so you can control the glass super precisely. It switches between clear and private in milliseconds, and it even has a neat "Cat Eye Mode" that lets you see out safely while keeping nosy people from looking in.
The XPeng GX uses six pieces of custom dimming glass to cover the whole cabin for privacy. It flips from see-through to dark in just 0.16 seconds - crazy fast - and it turns a nice clean black without any foggy haze or weird color.
The Voyah Taishan Black Warrior keeps things focused on the back seats, with 10-level dimming glass that gives passengers better privacy and blocks the sun nicely.
What's impressive about BOE's Light Curtain is how quick and smart it is. It reacts in a flash, lets you dim just parts of the window or do smooth gradients, and can automatically adjust based on sunlight and what you're doing in the car, thanks to AI. It runs on safe 12V power, handles crazy temperatures, and is tough enough to switch on and off millions of times without breaking down.
BOE has over 150 patents on this stuff and built its own big production lines for flexible smart glass. They're not stopping at cars either - the tech is heading into trains, buildings, and more.
All in all, BOE is doing pretty well in China's premium car market, showing up in luxury sedans, big SUVs, and fancy MPVs. Their Light Curtain tech is making car cabins feel smarter, more comfortable, and way more private.
