On March 31, TCL Huaxing, DKE Oriental Pulse, and Zhihe Technology signed a joint venture agreement for a new electronic paper project. The signing happened at DKE's manufacturing base in Jiashan, Zhejiang.
The project will focus on developing, making, and selling complete electronic paper devices. The three companies want to combine their strengths to build better products, react faster to what customers need, and give the electronic paper industry a boost. It's also a way to thank the local government for its support.
TCL Huaxing, started in 2009, is a major display panel maker. It has 11 big production lines and seven manufacturing and R&D bases worldwide. Right now, it's the world's second-largest LCD producer and the largest LTPS producer.
According to TCL Technology's 2025 annual report, TCL Huaxing did very well last year and became one of the group's key growth drivers. Revenue reached 105.24 billion yuan, up 17.4%. Net profit jumped 44.4% to 8.01 billion yuan, and profit attributable to TCL shareholders rose 54.4% to 5.36 billion yuan.
DKE Oriental Pulse was founded in 2005. Over the past 20 years, it has become an important company in the electronic paper display module business. Its products are used in smart retail, offices, education, logistics, transportation, e-readers, and other new areas.
Just one day before the signing, on March 30, DKE got the green light from the China Securities Regulatory Commission for its Hong Kong IPO.
Zhihe Technology, founded in 2018 (previously called Shenzhen Jiuzhou Zhihe Technology), makes electronic paper terminals like electronic shelf labels, e-readers, and smart office notebooks.
With digitalization and green low-carbon goals gaining momentum, electronic paper is finding more and more uses in commercial displays, education, offices, transport, and logistics. It's becoming a popular choice for eco-friendly displays.
This joint venture should help connect key parts of the supply chain, speed up the real-world adoption of electronic paper, and support the industry's development. With the three companies working together, they're hoping to make solid progress in this growing sector.
