Samsung's UK and Ireland product and marketing boss, Annika Bizon, recently did a Reddit AMA and answered a bunch of questions from users.
When someone asked why Samsung stopped making small phones, she basically said it comes down to what most people actually use their phones for these days. "People are working, watching videos, playing games, and creating content on them - and all of that is just better on a bigger screen," she explained.
But she also acknowledged that not everyone wants a huge phone. For those who care more about something that fits easily in a pocket, she pointed to the Galaxy Z Flip series. "It folds up really small and is super portable, but opens up to a full-size screen when you need it," she added.
On Galaxy AI, Bizon said Samsung is trying to give users a lot of control over how they use the AI features, so it doesn't feel forced. She also stressed that the company takes data privacy seriously - using things like Samsung Knox Vault and other protections. According to her, your personal data only gets sent to the cloud when it's actually being processed, and it gets deleted right after.
She also mentioned a few highlights for the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, including its new privacy display (which is apparently a first in the industry), a better camera setup, and improvements to the battery and charging.
Overall, it was a pretty straightforward AMA where Samsung tried to explain their design choices and reassure people about AI.
