As 2025 comes to an end, I've been reflecting on what a busy year it's been. Our team worked on many custom LCD projects, some straightforward, others that honestly pushed us pretty hard. I decided to put together a list of the ten projects that stood out most to me - not just because they were technically impressive, but because they solved real problems and taught us something along the way.

Smart Agriculture Monitoring Terminal
Early this year, a precision farming company came to us with a problem: their existing displays kept failing in the field due to dust, condensation, and wild temperature changes. We built them a 10.1-inch custom LCD with 1200 nits brightness, optical bonding, and a special wide-temperature liquid crystal.

The first few prototypes had some condensation issues during rapid temperature swings, but after adjusting the sealing process, the final version has held up well. The customer told us they've deployed over 800 units with almost no returns so far.
Marine Navigation Display
A European marine client needed a 15-inch display that could survive the North Sea - salt spray, heavy vibration, and glaring sunlight. We went with 1800 nits, full optical bonding, and extra protective coatings.
I remember the test phase was stressful because vibration testing kept revealing small connection weaknesses. We reinforced the FPC bonding twice before it passed. Those displays are now out on actual boats, and the feedback on readability has been excellent.
Portable Medical Ultrasound Device
This one was personally satisfying. A medical device startup was developing a portable ultrasound for use in ambulances and remote clinics. They needed a 10.4-inch screen with great color accuracy, low power draw, and reliable performance from -10°C to +60°C.
We spent a lot of time fine-tuning the backlight and liquid crystal mix. The final version passed medical certification without major issues, and it's now being used in real mobile healthcare settings. Seeing our displays help in medical situations always feels meaningful.
EV Charging Station HMI

With electric vehicles booming, we got a request for a tough 12.3-inch outdoor interface display. The station needed to be visible in bright daylight, work with gloves, and handle all kinds of weather.
We delivered 1500+ nits with anti-glare optical bonding. More than 1,500 units are now installed across charging networks. There were some early thermal management challenges, but we solved them before volume production.
Industrial Robot Control Panel
A factory automation company needed a large 15.6-inch display that could take constant vibration and electromagnetic noise on the production line.

We strengthened the mechanics, improved EMI shielding, and changed the bonding method. These panels have been running 24/7 for most of the year. The customer mentioned they finally stopped getting random screen glitches after switching to our solution.
Rugged Tablet for Oil & Gas
This project was tough but interesting. An oilfield equipment maker wanted an 8-inch display for explosion-proof tablets used in drilling sites. Extreme temperatures, bright sun, and very rough handling were the main challenges.
We created a sunlight-readable custom LCD with optical bonding and extra reinforcement. The first field reports showed much better visibility and durability compared to previous suppliers.
High-Brightness Outdoor Kiosk Displays
One of the more visible projects this year. A smart city initiative needed both 32-inch and 55-inch outdoor kiosks that actually work in direct sunlight.

We pushed the brightness up to 2000–2500 nits while keeping heat under control. The first installation batch taught us a lot about real-world thermal behavior in different cities. They've been holding up well through summer and winter.
Automotive Aftermarket Dashboard
A premium car modification brand asked for a sharp 12.3-inch dashboard display with excellent viewing angles and fast integration.

We focused on color consistency and response time. The end result looks really good in modified vehicles. The client was particularly happy that we could match their exact interface requirements without major redesigns on their side.
Rugged Display for Heavy Construction Machinery
A heavy equipment manufacturer needed a 10.1-inch display for cranes and excavators that could survive serious shock and outdoor exposure.
We reinforced the entire module structure and improved shock absorption. These displays are now operating on actual construction sites where vibration and dust are constant. So far, the field failure rate has been very low.
Medical Bedside Monitor for Ventilators
My number one project of the year came from a medical company working on next-generation ventilators and patient monitors. They needed a 13.3-inch display where reliability was non-negotiable.
We used optical bonding, carefully selected wide-temperature materials, high color accuracy backlight, and added extra safety features in the circuitry. The displays passed all medical certifications on the first major submission. Knowing these screens are being used in hospitals to support critical care makes all the long hours worth it.
What Stood Out Across These Projects
Optical bonding moved from "nice to have" to almost essential for anything used outdoors or in medical settings. Sunlight readability (1000 nits and above) was requested much more frequently, especially for EV chargers and public kiosks. Customers also became more serious about long-term supply stability - many specifically asked about 5–7 years of guaranteed availability.
The biggest lesson for me personally was how important early collaboration is. When we get involved while the customer is still defining requirements, we can suggest better trade-offs and avoid costly changes later. We also improved our internal thermal simulation and vibration testing methods after seeing real-world results.
2025 reminded us that every custom LCD project is different. Some are about pushing brightness higher, others are about making something ultra-reliable in life-critical applications. At Minghua, we enjoy both.
