difference between ips and tn screens

IPS and TN screens are two technologies used to manufacture liquid crystal displays or LCDS. Their main differences are as follows:

1. Cost Price: The cost of IPS displays is higher, while TN displays are relatively cheap.
2. Viewing Angle: IPS displays have a wider viewing Angle and can view the display from a very slanted Angle, while TN displays start to experience color loss when viewed from a certain Angle and the image becomes faded.
3. Response Speed: The advantage of the TN panel is that the response time is easy to improve, while the viewing Angle of the IPS display is higher, the color restoration is accurate, and the response speed is slower than the TN panel.
4. Screen Hardness: TN display using liquid crystal solution, when pressed there will be ripple deformation, while IPS display does not have this problem.

Production process

Cutting segment: cut the original large plate glass into a single liquid crystal glass;

Ultrasonic washing and drying: by ultrasonic washing to remove the previous process of dust and dust generated dirt, high temperature drying liquid crystal glass；

Wash and grind, apply polarizer: the liquid crystal glass is washed twice to remove the rough edges and fine cracks, and then the polarizer is affixed;

COG binding: the liquid crystal glass pasted with polarizer is cleaned and then ACF adhesive is affixed by the automatic equipment to bind the chip;

FOG binding: the LCD glass bound with the chip is affixed with ACF glue and bound with FPC by the automation equipment；

Functional testing: click FOG to test if it works；

Glue and let dry: glue seal chip, FPC line position, natural drying or machine drying;

Assemble : assemble lamp strip, light guide plate, reflection film, diffusion film, upper brightening film and lower brightening film;

Reason analysis: test whether the backlight is working properly.

Matters needing attention

(1) Cautions when taking out the module

Pick the pouch only, when taking out module from a shipping package.

(2) Cautions for handling the module

As the electrostatic discharges may break the LCD module, handle the LCD module with care. Peel a protection sheet off from the LCD panel surface as slowly as possible.
As the LCD panel and back - light element are made from fragile glass material, impulse and pressure to the LCD module should be avoided.
As the surface of the polarizer is very soft and easily scratched, use a soft dry cloth without chemicals for cleaning.
Do not pull the interface connector in or out while the LCD module is operating.
Put the module display side down on a flat horizontal plane.
Handle connectors and cables with care.

(3) Cautions for the operation

When the module is operating, do not lose CLK, ENAB signals. If any one of these signals is lost, the LCD panel would be damaged.
Obey the supply voltage sequence. If wrong sequence is applied, the module would be damaged.

(4)Precautions for protective film

Remove the protective film slowly, keeping the removing direction approximate 30- degree not vertical from panel surface, If possible, under ESD control device like ion blower, and the humidity of working room should be kept over 50%RH to reduce the risk of static charge.
People who peeled off the protection film should wear anti-static strap and grounded well.
